Carol Jean (Cox) Opel

Carol Jean Opel, 81, of Gillespie, IL - formerly of Worden, IL, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, IL.  She was born March 15, 1943 in Carlinville, IL, the daughter of the late Gilbert & Pearl (Cottingham) Cox.  

She was employed as a secretary at Opel's Fish Farm in Worden, IL, for many years, & enjoyed going to Wild Pickins' Winery with her BFF, Patty.

She is survived by her son -  Darin Opel of Worden, IL;  two sisters -  Mina Baker of Shipman, IL,  &  Jan Stanley of Brighton, IL;  her best friend -  Patty Page;  numerous nieces & nephews also survive.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son -  Daniel Opel;  &  one sister -  Kay Griswold.
