Bettesue Shapiro

Bettesue Shapiro, 76, of Staunton, IL, passed away at 4:23 PM on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Staunton Health & Rehab Center in Staunton, IL.  She was born October 25, 1949 in Oakland, CA, the daughter of the late Albert & Martha (Spector) Shapiro.

Bettesue was employed as an Accounts Payable Manager, & held a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Arizona.  She was also an accomplished writer & artist.  She loved nature, the outdoors, her cats, & traveling.  Her love of travel was rewarded when she won the grand prize from Carnival Cruise Lines, a lifetime award of a cruise of her choice every year.

She is survived by a daughter -  Alison Hinton & her spouse Josie;  grandchildren -  Dylan Staley,  Sara Hinton,  &  Thalia Hinton;  two brothers -  Louis (Janet) Shapiro  &  Edward (Maureen) Shapiro;  unrelated siblings -  Mike & Sue Belling  &  Bronwyn Belling;  brother-in-law -  Raymond Sheets;  first cousins -  Al Spector  &  Rodney Burge;  ten nieces & nephews;  &  seventeen great nieces  &  great nephews.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters -  Alyce (Max) Davidson,  Arlene (Paul) Doppelt,  Illa Sheets,  &  Sydney (Richard) Henry.
