Annette Callovini, 92, of Staunton, Illinois, passed away at 7:00 AM on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra, Illinois.
She was born on April 21, 1928 in Staunton, Illinois, the daughter of the late James & Alice (Hibbert) Hippey. She married Albino Callovini on October 16, 1948 & he passed away on July 16, 2009.
She started working at the Staunton Star-Times right out of high school - she later worked at the Staunton Telephone Company & retired from what was then Centel Telephone Company in 1983. She later volunteered at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra, Illinois & was Secretary/Treasurer there for a number of years.
Annette graduated from Staunton High School in 1946. She was an avid fisherman & St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed needlework, loved watching & feeding her hummingbirds, & loved making homemade meals for her family on Sundays.
She is survived by 2 sons - Phil (Merry) Callovini of Staunton & Alan (Debbie) Callovini of Staunton; 6 grandchildren - Phil (Angie) Callovini Jr., Marthee (Pete) Sansone, Mike (Amy) Callovini, Krystal (Matt) Marra, Cory Callovini, & Daryl Callovini; several great grandchildren & nieces & nephews also survive. Besides her husband & parents, she was preceded in death by a son - Paul Callovini; & 2 sisters - Irene Tuscan & Doreen Coultas.
Public Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 AM on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. All COVID-19 protocol will be observed during the visitation period. Memorials are suggested to either Adopt-A-Pet of Benld, Illinois or to the charity of the donor's choice. Funeral Services & Burial will be private.
