Adeline J. (Minkanic) Ernst

Adeline J. Ernst, 104, of Sterling, IL - formerly of Naples, FL & Livingston, IL, passed away at 5:48 AM on Monday, August 12, 2024 at Morningside of Sterling in Sterling, IL, where she received loving care from the Staff & Vitas Hospice.

She was born June 22, 1920 in Livingston, IL, the daughter of the late Theodore & Anna (Jacko) Minkanic.  She married Harry E. Pointer on January 9, 1943 & he passed away on December 21, 1967.  She then married Erwin Ernst on November 9, 1975 & he passed away in September of 2005.  After marrying Erwin, she was blessed with 4 devoted step children & a large & loving Ernst family.

Adeline worked most of her life in the healthcare field, where she worked as an LPN for many years at many hospitals.  After retirement, she volunteered for Hospice until the age of 93.  She was also a beautiful artist & miniaturist throughout her later years, creating many keepsakes for her family.  She graduated from Livingston High School in 1939, & was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Livingston, IL & the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.

She is survived by one daughter -  Ellen Pointer (David) Feltes;  three step children -  Mary (Jim) Gaitin,  Gary (Joyce) Ernst,  &  Cheryl (Mike) McIntyre;  four grandchildren -  Christopher Feltes,  Anna Feltes,  Irene (Joseph) Keeley,  &  Carl (Nikaia) Feltes;  many step grandchildren & numerous great gramdchildren, nieces, & nephews.  Besides her husbands & parents, she was preceded in death by three children -  Carol Ann Banjura,  Douglas Pointer,  &  Clyde Pointer;  one step son -  Bob Ernst;  three brothers -  John Minkanic,  Andrew Minkanic,  &  Michael Minkanic;  &  five sisters -  Mary Jervis,  Ann Jamboretz,  Rose Williams,  Helen Augustine,  &  Violet Yaeger.

Friends may call from 2 to 3 PM on Monday, August 19, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livingston, IL.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3 PM on Monday, August 19, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livingston, IL, with Rev. Thomas Hagstrom officiating.  Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Livingston, IL.
