Wm. Gregory “Dudley” Humphries, 61 of Staunton, IL passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019 at his residence in Staunton. Born March 26, 1957 in Monahans, TX, he was a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. William Oscar Humphries. He married Myra Baugher on September 26, 1981 in Staunton and she survives. He was employed as an Electrician with IBEW # 309 in Collinsville, IL for 33 years before retiring in 2012. Greg was a very fun loving, outgoing man! He loved taking country rides with his dogs. He enjoyed going camping, four wheeling, and taking float trips with his wife, family and friends. He also liked to go fishing and scuba diving with his brothers-in-Law, movie nights with his sister, daughters and grandchildren. Greg was a part of the high school track team and was named MVP and also won the SCC title in the high jump. In 1975, he set the high jump record of 6' 3" which was held for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Myra Humphries of Staunton; 2 Daughters, Ali Johnson of Tampa, FL and Alex (Brandon) Ziegler of Staunton, IL; 3 Grandchildren, Jayden Johnson, Chase & Caleb Ziegler; 1 Sister, Rhonda Humphries of Staunton, IL; 2 Brothers-in-law, Mike Baugher of Melbourne, FL, and Randy (Tina) Baugher of Bethalto, IL. Several cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his Mother and Father-in-Law, Miles and Betty Baugher, and his Brother-in-law, Eddie Baugher.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 15, 2019 from 4 to 9 PM at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Net Community Church in Staunton with Rev. Derrick Taylor officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Family.
