William Lee McCracken

William Lee McCracken, 88 of Staunton, Illinois passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at his residence in Staunton. Born January 15, 1930 in Edwardsville, Illinois, he was a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Robert & Della (Kennedy) McCracken. He married Joyce Hopper on October 8, 1994 in Staunton, Illinois and she survives. He worked as an Aluminum Salesman for Reynolds Metals in Torrence, CA. Bill served as a Staff Sgt. In the U.S. Marine Corps from 1947 to 1956, including the Korean War. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Prairietown, Illinois and the Edwardsville American Legion Post #199.

He is survived by his Wife, Joyce McCracken of Staunton, IL; 5 children, Michael McCracken, Melissa Renner, Ray (Sherry) Ridens, Rhonda (Rollie) Lorenz, and Kristina (Michael) Kampman. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mary Ann Schwab & Barbara Luchtefeld. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 brother, Murl McCracken.

There will be no visitation. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery Veterans Circle in Staunton with Rev. Dale Skeesick officiating. Memorials are suggested to either the Illinois State Library Talking Books Fund or to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
