Wanda Faye (Miller) Phipps

Wanda Faye Phipps, 89, of Staunton, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Community Memorial Hospital in Staunton. She was born June 6, 1929 in East St. Louis, Illinois, the daughter of the late Thomas & Grace Miller of White Hall, Illinois. She married Chesney “Ernie” Phipps on February 1, 1948 in Yuma, Arizona, & he survives. After nursing school she was an LPN at Calvin Johnson Nursing Home in Belleville, Illinois. Upon retirement, she attained her Real Estate license & was a Realtor for Juanita Brown Inc. in Belleville, Illinois. She enjoyed cooking, home decorating, & spending time with friends & family. She was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton, Illinois, & found joy in participating in the various church functions. She is survived by her husband, Chesney “Ernie” Phipps of Staunton; 2 children – Richard (Gloria) Phipps of East Alton, Illinois & Donna Vesper of Staunton, Illinois; 5 grandchildren – Brian Phipps of Girard, IL, Patrick (Rochelle) Phipps of Springfield, IL, Chris Vesper of Staunton, IL, Kevin Phipps of East Alton, IL, & Michelle (Billy) Murray of Brighton, IL; 7 great grandchildren & 1 great great grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers – Normal & Kenneth Miller. Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral services at 10 AM on Friday, May 31, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton, with Rev. Kelly Mitteis officiating. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton.
