Walter Ray Volentine, 71 of Edwardsville, Illinois passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Community Memorial Hospital in Staunton, Illinois. Born July 3, 1945 in Highland, Illinois, he was a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. David and Alvera (Hamann) Volentine. He worked as a laborer in construction with Edwardsville Local #179 and with Reese Asphalt in Edwardsville. He later was an owner/operator for Local #520. He served in the U.S. National Guard. Walter enjoyed wood-working, was an avid hunter, and loved his grandchildren.

He is survived by 1 daughter, Diane Stallard of Edwardsville, IL; 1 son, Dave (Becky) Volentine of Staunton, IL; 5 grandchildren, Christoffer (Alicia) Stallard, Emerald Stallard, Niki Volentine, Dain Volentine, and Mason Volentine; 2 great grandchildren, Bentley & Scott Stallard. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 grandson in infancy.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. A Celebration of Life will be held at Rooster’s Pub immediately following the visitation. Memorials are suggested to either the Staunton Sportsman Club or to the Staunton High School Trap-Shooting Team.
