Thomas A. Coyne, 53 of Staunton, Illinois passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Community Memorial Hospital in Staunton. Born November 21, 1963 in Staunton, Illinois, he was a son of the late Mr. Thomas G. Coyne and Mrs. Judith L.(Frizzo) Coyne. He married Stacy Timmermeier on April 23, 1988 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Staunton and she survives. He worked as a Supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service in Troy, Illinois and was employed by the USPS for 22 years. Prior to that, he was employed as a Ballistics Tester at Olin Winchester in East Alton, Illinois. He began his working career with Fruin & Colon Construction of St. Louis, Missouri. Tom attended Missouri Baptist College in St. Louis, Missouri on a basketball scholarship.  He also played two years of international basketball.  He was a Past President of the Staunton Athletic Boosters from 2008 to 2012, a coach in the Staunton Little League Program from 1994 to 2007, had a short stint as Basketball Coach at St. Michael’s Catholic School in Staunton, & was a member of the Staunton Sportsman’s Club.  Tom played in a golf league for Olin Winchester during his time of employment there, & was a proud member of the Staunton Country Club from 1980 to the present.  Tom was also a two time & defending Masters Champion at Staunton Country Club.  He also enjoyed hunting & fishing, & spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Stacy L. Coyne of Staunton, IL; 2 sons, Nicholas (Grace) Coyne of Edwardsville, IL and Thomas D. “Dylan” Coyne (Meagan Turley) of St. Louis, MO; mother, Judith L. Coyne of Staunton, IL; 1 brother, James Coyne of Perryville, MO. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Derek Michael Coyne;’ Dearly loved sisters-In-Law, Vadena Timmermeier Starr and Patricia “Trish” Collins Coyne.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM on Wednesday at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Simon & Jude Catholic Church in Gillespie, IL with Rev. Mike Haag officiating. Burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton.
