Stephen Joseph Belchik Jr, 71 of Staunton, Illinois passed away at 10:05 AM on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, after a prolonged illness. He was surrounded by his wife and family. Mr. Belchik was married to V. Jean (Lovell) on September 28, 1988. They were happily married for 29 years. He worked as a salesperson for most of his life and was employed by such companies as Pitney-Bowes Canon and Imagistics. He served proudly in the United States Navy and is a proud veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.
Steve enjoyed playing golf, working jigsaw puzzles, studying Ancient Indians, chess, and spending time with his family. “A bad day on the golf course is still better than a good day at work.”
He is survived by his wife, V. Jean Belchik of Staunton, IL; 1 Son, Brian (Jen) Belchik of Godfrey, IL; 1 Daughter, Julie (Daniel) Prats of Chicopee, MA; 6 Grandchildren, Kelsey Prats of Chicopee, MA; Drew (Kimmie) Belchik of Godfrey, IL; Amanda Belchik of Alton, IL; Katie Belchik (Austin Sanders) of Roxana, IL; Aiden Belchik, Cameron Belchik,and Parker Belchik of Godfrey, IL; 2 Great-Grandsons, Paxton Belchik & Lincoln Sanders; 1 Sister, Bonnie (Aubrey) Bunger of Newsport, VA; 2 Brothers, George (Lavada) Belchik of Jefferson City, MO & Tom (Elsie) Belchik of Bunker Hill, IL. Besides his parents, Steve and Boots Belchik, he was preceded in death by 1 Son, Cpl. Christopher W. Belchik.
Memorials are suggested to either the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Wounded Warrior Project, or to St. Jude's Children’s Hospital. Mr. Belchik donated his body to St. Louis University School of Medicine. No services are being held per Mr. Belchiks wishes.
