Ronald Maedge Obituary

Ronald L. “Sam” Maedge, 77 of Lake KaHo, Mt. Olive, Illinois – formerly of Staunton, Illinois died at Heritage Health in Staunton, Illinois on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 10:17 PM. Born April 1, 1941 in Livingston, Illinois, he was a son of the Late Mr. & Mrs. Louis Maedge. He married Shirley Luttman & they later divorced.  He then married Diana Ruth Ray on February 28, 1973 & she passed away on July 6, 2000.  He then married Vicki Umberger on October 26, 2006 in Staunton, IL & she survives. Sam worked as the Staunton Township Commissioner for many years.  Sam was also a Custodian at Staunton Unit Schools for many years. Sam served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Net Community Church of Staunton –Staunton VFW Post #1241 – Township Officials of Illinois – past Staunton Police Officer & past member of the Staunton Volunteer Fire Department.     

Sam is survived by his Wife, Vicki Maedge of Lake KaHo, Mt. Olive, Illinois; 3 Sons, Tim Smiddy of Staunton, Illinois, Ron (Amy) Maedge Jr. of Staunton, Illinois, & Mike (Becky) Maedge of Staunton, Illinois; 3 Step Children, Debra (Tom) Gonet of Nokomis, Illinois, Tami (Randy) Fox of Springfield, Missouri, & Kenny (Kim) Carlock of Nokomis, Illinois; 10 Grandchildren - Landon Maedge, Kinslee Maedge, Briar Maedge, Craig Gonet, Nikki Gonet, Dallas Blose, Terin Leigh, Josh Leigh, Kaylee Carlock, & Kinzley Carlock; 9 Great Grandchildren; 2 Brothers, Wally (Marlene) Maedge of Edwardsville, Illinois and Bill (Alice) Maedge of Belton, Missouri; Brothers-In-Law & Sisters-In-Law, Danny & Shirley Ray, Peggy Bellmon, Kathy Ray, George Wolbert, Helen Maedge, Dick & Sherrill Umberger. Many Nieces & Nephews also survive. Besides his parents & his wife Diana, Sam was preceded in death by 2 Brothers, Joe & Bob Maedge; 3 Sisters, Evelyn, Annabelle, & Wanda; Father-In-Law & Mother-In-Law, Blaine & Ruth Ray; Brothers-In-Law & Sisters-In-Law, Joe Ray, Linden Ray, Glenn Ray, & Mike Bellmon.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday at Net Community Church in Staunton. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Net Community Church in Staunton, Illinois with Pastor Derrick Taylor officiating. Burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to either The Patriot Club at Staunton Elementary School or to Net Community Church of Staunton.
