Murlin A. Hawkins, 83 of Staunton, Illinois passed away on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Heritage Health in Staunton, Illinois. Born March 6, 1934 in Portageville, Missouri, he was a son of the Late Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Hawkins. He married Eula J. Evans on July 14, 1954 and she survives. He worked as the Superintendent of Schools with Staunton School District for many years. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Staunton; past President of Staunton Chamber of Commerce; member of Staunton Masonic Lodge # 177 AF & AM; First National Bank Board of Directors; past member of Community Memorial Hospital of Staunton Board of Directors.

He is survived by his wife, Eula J. Hawkins of Staunton, IL; 1 daughter, Paula (Terry) Hale of Staunton, IL; 2 grandchildren, Heather (Kevin) Goins & Patrick McLane; 1 great granddaughter, Madison Goins; 1 brother, James A. (Carolyn) Hawkins; 2 sisters, Ruth Ann (J.E.) Elkins & Alfreda Hanlon; a sister-in-law, Jo Underwood (Oleg). Several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Victor Murlin Hawkins and 3 sisters, Regina, Edith, & Frances.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 AM on Monday, October 30, 2017 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Staunton. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ with Rev. Debbie Jo Atkins officiating. Burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Staunton.
