Lucille Marie DalPozzo of Staunton, Illinois, passed away on January 17, 2018, at Heritage Health in Staunton. Lucille was born on November 10, 1930, in Staunton, Illinois, to Anton and Amelia (Schmidt) DalPozzo.
Lu worked at the Staunton Star-Times for over 40 years. She also worked at the Kwik Konnection in Staunton. She enjoyed bowling, playing pinochle, and making antipasto with her favorite nieces and nephews. Lu and her mom loved their pets; dogs, cats, ducks and sometimes chickens. She helped with the gardening and canning of the produce.
Lu was a die-hard Cubs fan (So glad they won the World Series in her time) and loved Harry Carey. She loved going dancing at Tarro’s on the weekends with her friends. She was a charter member of the What’s Happening Now Club, a member of the VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary, and a member of the Staunton Centennial Planning Committee.
Lucille was survived by several nieces and nephews: Mario (Debbie) DalPozzo; Karen DalPozzo (Mike Luchtefeld); Tami DalPozzo(Brian Kershaw); Ricky DalPozzo; Diane DalPozzo(John Williamson); Cindy DalPozzo(Chuck Leonard); Renee DalPozzo(Glen Seganfredo); Rose McNaughton (honorary niece); Mark (MaryMargaret) DalPozzo; Mike (Dyan) DalPozzo; Sandy (Mike Kuba); Matt DalPozzo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers and their wives, Matt (Theresa), Reno (Ellen), Raymond (Doris), and Elmer (Shirley), her dear friend Arlene Wharry, niece Janet (DalPozzo) McDole, niece Linda (Goehe) DalPozzo, nephews Marion and Scott DalPozzo, and great nephew Patrick Luchtefeld.
Lu will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
