Jerrett James “Jay” Fagan Jr., 80 of rural Edwardsville passed away at his residence on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. Born October 9, 1938 in Edwardsville, Illinois, he was a son of the Late Mr. Jerrett James Fagan Sr., Marie Lenora Kubicek, and Stepmother Naomi Henry Fulke Fagan. He married Toni R. Droxner on April 4, 1964 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on West Park St. in Edwardsville, IL. They met in Pfullendorf, Germany in 1963 while Jay was in the service. Jay was a Self-Employed Carpenter/General Contractor with Fagan Construction, specializing in Home Building & Remodeling. Prior to his military service and for awhile upon returning from service, he worked for Cain Lumber Company in Collinsville, IL. He was a member of the Carpenter’s Union for over 30 years and a member of the Worden American Legion Post #564. Jay loved hunting, gardening, arrowhead hunting, model trains – N gauge, and working on Toni’s lawn mowers. Jay played football at Edwardsville High School & graduated from EHS in 1956.
He is survived by his wife, Toni R. Fagan; 1 Son, Michael (Melodye) Fagan; 1 Daughter, Patricia (Dan) Miller; 2 Grandsons, Austin (Shelby) Miller & Aaron Miller; 1 Great Grandson, Hank Miller; 2 Sisters, Betty Lou Schreiber & MaryAnn Alderson; 2 Brothers, Terry (MaryAnn) Fagan & Denny (Harriette) Fagan; 2 Step Brothers, Fred (Marty) Funke & Jim (Maggie) Funke; and 1 Step Sister, KayLee Wydra.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 31, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Williamson Funeral Home in Worden. Father Jeff Goeckner will conduct services. Following the Memorial Service, the family will greet friends from 4 to 8 PM at Williamson Funeral Home in Worden. Memorials are suggested to Worden American Legion Post #564 or to the Madison County Humane Society.
