Charles “Chach” Yakos, 86 of Staunton, IL died Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Community Hospital in Staunton, IL. Born September 21, 1933 in Staunton, IL, he was son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Bartel Yakos. He married Jackie Bradley in November of 1957 in Granite City, Illinois and she survives. “Chach” served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a Foreman at an aluminum factory in Madison, Illinois for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Staunton, Staunton American Legion Post # 362, Staunton VFW Post #1241, Staunton City Park Board, Staunton School Board, Staunton Township Board, and was a Little League Coach for many years.
“Chach” is survived by his wife, Jackie Yakos of Staunton, IL; 4 children, Susan (Dick) Maddalon, Bart (Diana) Yakos, Brad (Maria) Yakos, Lynn (Pete) Vogel; 10 grandchildren, Becky, Jared, Katie, Marilyn, Matt, Sarah, Emma, Ruth, Greg, and Chris; 9 great grandchildren, Jesse, Chloe, Cameron, Joey, Josiah, Jaxson, Landon, Gabe, & Madyson. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 grandson, Simon; 4 brothers, Tony, Frank, Ed, and John (in infancy); 2 sisters, Mae Smith and Emma Schwandner.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 AM on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton, IL. A Memorial service will follow at 11 AM at Williamson Funeral Home with Father George Radosevich officiating. Interment of cremains will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Staunton Education Foundation or to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
