Carol E. Schulmeister, 75 of Staunton passed away peacefully at home with Pastor Mitteis and family by her side on Tuesday, August 20, 2019. Born March 15, 1944 in Litchfield, IL, she was a daughter of the Late Mr. & Mrs. Omer & Rosetta (Nieman) Striegel. She married Dean E. Schulmeister on January 11, 1964 at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton and he survives. Carol worked as an X-Ray Technician at Community Memorial Hospital in Staunton for many years. She was also a Teachers Aide at Zion Lutheran Pre-School, where she was known as “Mrs. Schu.” She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church; Zion Lutheran Church Choir; and the Staunton Community Church Choir; and The Tuesday Bunco Club.
She is survived by her Husband, Dean E. Schulmeister of Staunton, IL; 4 Children, Dean (Kristi) Schulmeister of Carterville, IL; Kevin (Angie) Schulmeister of Staunton, IL; Karen (Jim) Hemp of Staunton, IL; Jennifer (Brad) Wall of Staunton, IL; 7 Grandchildren, Jordan Allensworth, Hanna Schulmeister; Molly Schulmeister; Lucas Hemp; Logan Hemp; Mitchell Wall; and Erin Wall; 1 Sister, Joyce Marcuzzo of Staunton, IL; 4 Sisters-in-Law, Wanda Striegel, Jan Maxwell, Bette Schulmeister, and Joan (Ed) Rucker- all of Staunton. Numerous Nieces and nephews also survive. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Brother, Vernon Striegel and 1 Brother-in-Law, Bill Marcuzzo.
Friends may call from 8:30 AM to 11 AM on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton with Pastor Kelly Mitteis officiating. Burial will be held at Spangle Cemetery immediately following the Memorial Service. Memorials are suggested to the Family.
