William U. “Bill” Strasen, 81 of Staunton, Illinois passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Fountain View Manor in Granite City, Illinois. Born April 5, 1936 in Tamalco, Illinois, he was a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Gilbert U. Strasen. He married Caroline Pass Ivey on April 15, 1994 in Bunker Hill, Illinois and she survives. Bill served in the U.S. Air Force for 6 years. He worked as a tool & die maker at Boeing in St. Louis, Missouri, retiring April 30, 1998. He was a past member of the Staunton American Legion Post # 362.

He is survived by his wife, Caroline Strasen of Staunton, IL; 5 children, William, DelLoreen, Dennis, John (Debbie), and Richard (Julie); 5 step-children, David (Carmen), Donald, Charles, Darla (Rick) and Doyle; 22 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Robert (Carole) Strasen of Brownsville, IN; 2 sisters, Carol Jean Van Huss of Swansea, IL and Joan Ann Flath of Troy, IL; 1 sister-in-law, Linda (Herb) Sievers of Staunton, IL; and mother-in-law, Elizabeth Pass of Staunton, IL.

There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton. The Staunton Military Honor Guard will conduct graveside rites. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to the Staunton American Legion Post # 362.
