Richard L. “Pops” Ebersohl, 78 of Staunton, IL passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. Born January 27, 1939 in De Soto, IL, he was a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Homer & Irene (Sills) Ebersohl. He married Ruby Morgan on June 12, 1959 in Du Pont, IL and she passed away on November 18, 1998. He worked as a Yardman at Terminal Railroad in Madison, IL. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962-1964. “Pops” was a member of the Staunton American Legion Post # 362 and the Railroad Association. He was an avid fisherman. He was loved and cherished by many. He was an outstanding father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He is survived by 5 children, Robin Ebersohl of Livingston, IL; Richard W. (Robin) Ebersohl of Staunton, IL; Vicky Ebersohl (fiancé Wayne Moehle) of Staunton, IL; Kevin (Lauri) Ebersohl of Staunton, IL; and Bryan (Kathy) Ebersohl of Staunton, IL; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Charles, Ronald, & John; and 1 sister, Mary Jane.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM on Monday at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton with Rev. Mike Watkins officiating. Burial will be held at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Belleville, IL. The Staunton Military Honor Guard will conduct graveside military rites. Memorials are suggested to either the family or to the Staunton American Legion Post # 362.
