Maurice E. "Sonny" Welch

Maurice E. “Sonny” Welch, 85 Litchfield, Illinois formerly of Williamson, Illinois passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Heritage Health in Litchfield, Illinois. Born January 23, 1933 in Brighton, Illinois, he was a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. William Irving Welch. He married Gracie Baldridge on September 23, 1954 and she survives. He worked as a Flight Line Mechanic at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, Missouri for many years. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Staunton VFW Post #1241 and the Olive-Williamson Volunteer Fire Department; and the Aerospace Machinists Union #837 of St. Louis, MO.

He is survived by his wife, Gracie Welch of Litchfield, IL; 4 children, Brian Welch of Rosewood Heights, IL; Malinda (Darrell) Pruden of Benld, IL; Mike (Carol) Welch of Florida; and William Welch of Rosewood Heights, IL; 5 grandchildren, Nathan, Nicole, Chris, Eric, and Kayla; 4 great grandchildren, Teagan, Kinzy, Payton, and Chloe; 1 aunt, Charlotte, and several cousins also survive. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by 1 son, David Welch.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 11 AM to 3 PM at the Staunton VFW Post #1241. Memorials are suggested to either the Staunton VFW Post #1241 or to the Olive-Williamson Volunteer Fire Department.
