Mary Messerly Obituary

Mary Irene Messerly, 97 of Gillespie, Illinois passes away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, Illinois. Born June 26, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan, she was a daughter of the Late Mr. & Mrs. Alexander & Teresa (Gaydos) Mogor. She married Joe Messerly (of Staunton, Illinois) on October 3, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan and he passed away December 20, 2003. She worked as an Auxiliary worker at Marine Garment Company in the 1960’s. She also worked as a Salvage Inspector at aircraft manufacturing plants in the New York area during World War II and as a factory worker at Republic Aircraft in Detroit, Michigan.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Carol Gray and Ellen Thomasson (Pat), both of St. Louis; 3 grandchildren, Charles Gray (Lucia Weseman), Julia Gray (Daniel Lamson), and Leo Thomasson, all of St. Louis; and 3 great-grandchildren, Everett Gray, Simon Gray, and Elliot Weseman, all of St. Louis; nephew Robert Mogor, and niece Beverly Schuler, and several step-nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Alex Mogor (and wife Mary) and Louis Mogor, and step-sister Beth Demark, all of Detroit, MI Memorials to: Adopt-A-Pet, Benld, IL www.benldadoptapet.org

No visitation; remains cremated. Private graveside services will be held at  a later date.
