Mary O. (Nardin) Dobrinich

We lost, and Heaven gained, an Angel.  Mary O (Nardin) Dobrinich passed away in her home, surrounded by her loving family Monday evening, September 11th, 2017, at the age of 92.

 

Mary was born to the late Pietro “Peter” (Asiago, Italy) and Santina Maria (Pont-Canavese) Nardin March 13, 1925 in Staunton.  She married the late Nicholas “Mickey” Dobrinich, Sr. May 11, 1946, and he passed away November 4th, 1989.

 

Mary was a long-time, active member of St. Michael’s Church in Staunton and always contributed by volunteering, joining organizations and cooking food for any event that came up. 

 

She stayed home raising her ten children.  Then, she worked for the State of Illinois as an administrative assistant and retired after 20 years. 

 

Her true legacy is her family, to whom she served as loving and loyal Matriarch.  She was a friend to all and knew no stranger.

 

Survivors include her children; Diana Newby, Nancy Johns (Harold Johns), Mary (husband Paul) Reid, Danny (wife Tammy) Dobrinich, Linda (husband Bob) Summers, Tina (husband Mengiste Ayele) Dobrinich, Laurie (husband Todd Neuhaus) Dobrinich, Jody Dobrinich, Damian Dobrinich; grandchildren Christopher Newby, Nicki Newby, Danie (husband Rusty) Schneider, Nathan (wife Marcia) Johns, Debra (husband Thomas) Taylor, Trevor Dobrinich, Kathryn Reid, Kassandra Dobrinich, Hana Ayele, Marta Ayele, Mikael Ayele, Brian (wife Natalia) Hidden, Jesse Dobrinich, Gabrielle Dobrinich, Vanessa Dobrinich, Nicholas Dobrinich; great-grandchildren Jordan Newby, Reese Newby, Nico Newby, Vincent Schneider, Annalee Johns, Fischer Johns, Joseph (wife Megan) Eschbach,  Geoffery Delaney, Mia Hidden, Weston Hidden, Madaline Horne, Grayson Horne; brother Leo (wife Karen) Nardin; sisters-in-law Doris Nardin and Joyce Nardin; many beloved nieces and nephews; and so many more family and friends.

 

In Heaven, she will be joining her parents, husband, son Nicholas “Mickey” Dobrinich Jr., brothers Lawrence Nardin and Dante Nardin.

 

Visitation will be Saturday, September 16th from 9am-10am at St. John Paul II (formerly Ascension Church) in Mt. Olive, with a funeral mass at 10am, Rev. George Radosevich officiating.  Private burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Mt. Olive, Illinois. 

 

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
