Marcus A. Mansholt, 90 of Staunton, IL passed away Friday, July 14, 2017 at Heritage Health in Staunton, IL. Born November 12, 1926 in New Douglas, IL, he was a son of the Late. Mrs. & Mrs. Charles Mansholt. He married Clara Senaldi on December 20, 1958 in Mississippi and she survives. He worked as a Coal Miner at the Coffeen, Illinois mine and was also a self-employed farmer. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and enjoyed baseball, fishing, hunting, and was a connoisseur of local coffee shops.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Mansholt of Staunton, IL; 1 son, Rick (Sheila) Hainaut of Taylorville, IL; 1 daughter, Gail Hainaut of Granite City, IL; 6 grandchildren, Charis (Ryan) Lowis, Melissa (Ron) Hainaut, and Michelle (Doug) Hainaut all of Taylorville, IL; Michael (Allyson) Mansholt of Benld, IL; David (Alicia) Mansholt of Staunton, IL; and Alecia (Eric) Whitlock of Mt. Olive, IL; 6 great grandchildren, Grady, Hallie, Sydney, Kylee, Kody, and Anna. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 son, Mark Mansholt; 1 daughter, Terry Lynn Mansholt; 2 brothers, Chuck & Emmert Mansholt; and 3 sisters, Aurelia Mansholt, Ruth Huber, and Melba Mansholt
Friends may call from 10 to 12 noon on Monday, July 17, 2017 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton. The Staunton Military Honor Guard will conduct military graveside services. Memorials are suggested to Ducks Unlimited.
