Marcella F. Bentrup, 78 of Staunton passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at her residence in Staunton. Born January 31, 1939 in Cottage Hills, IL, she was a daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. James & Sophia (Adams) Skaggs Sr. She graduated from Edwardsville Highschool with the class of 1958. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Staunton, and the Mary & Martha Quilting Society.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Cindy Lytle of Gillespie, IL and Cheri (husband Andrew) Houha of Oak Park, IL; 1 son, Kevin Bentrup of Staunton, IL; 5 grandchildren, Tyler (wife Brianna) Lytle; Austin Lytle, Elaine Houha, Bradley Houha, and Lindsey Houha; 1 sister, Nora Suhre of Virginia, IL; 1 sister-in-law, Lorene Uhe of Alhambra, IL. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, James Skaggs Jr., Lee Skaggs, and Virgil Skaggs; 1 sister, Juanita Henfling; and 1 son-in-law, Rob Lytle.

Friends may call from 10 AM until the time of service at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Rev. Gail Joyner will officiate. Burial will be held at Spangle Cemetery near Staunton. Memorials are suggested to either Celtic Hospice or Spangle Cemetery.
