Larry “Fox” Bellovich (71) of Staunton, died Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.   He was born on October 15, 1945, in Litchfield, IL.  He was the son of the late Rudolph and Marie (Paoletti) Bellovich and he married Kathleen Osborn on November 30, 1968.

 

During his school age years, Fox graduated from St. Michaels Grade School in 1959, Staunton High School in 1963 and Rankin Technical School in December 1965.  He served in the US Army from 1966-1968 and was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany.  When he returned home, he worked at Olin Corporation as an electrician, IBEW Local 649, from 1969-2005.

 

In his younger years, Fox was an avid bowler and softball player.  He was the V.P. of a small group called “The Local P.I.G.” where they roasted pigs for area events.  He loved to watch football and hockey.  He was a passionate Miami Dolphins fan and St. Louis Blues season ticket holder for 19 year.  Fox was very active within the community.  He served on the Staunton Volunteer Fireman Department for 20 years.  He was a charter member of the Staunton American Legion Post 362.  Fox was a member of the Staunton Sportsman’s Club where he spent many days fishing with Kathy and enjoying time with his grandkids.  He was a member of St. Michaels Church and the chairperson for the chicken fryers for more than 25 years.  Since retiring, Fox has enjoyed working on his family history and a member of the Macoupin County Genealogy Society.  He also enjoyed spending a day at the casino, visiting wineries and traveling to Europe, Caribbean islands, and Mexico.

 

Fox is survived by his wife, Kathy; 2 daughters, Kirsten (Rob) Kobbeman of Highland, IL, Kara Bellovich (Derrick Chatman) of Clayton, MO; honorary daughter, Stacy (Brad) Skertich of Staunton; six grandchildren, Wyatt Pickerill, Owen Kobbeman, Liam Kobbeman, Zemira Chatman, Yisrael Chatman and Gianni Chatman; 1 brother, Steve Bellovich of Staunton, IL.  In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by a brother, Lee Roy Bellovich.  Fox was greatly loved by his friends and family and especially his wife, children and 6 grandchildren.  Fox will be forever missed. 

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Staunton American Legion or the American Legion Scholarship funds.  On 3/23/2017, a Funeral Mass will be offered at 1:00pm at St. Michaels Church in Staunton. The burial will immediately follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, IL.   

 

Friends and family are also invited for food and drinks from 4-9pm at the VFW Hall in Staunton to celebrate Fox and all his memories.  Ecclesiastes 8:15 - So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of the life God has given them under the sun.
