Kenneth W. Brown, 93 of Staunton, Illinois passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. Born January 5, 1924 in Staunton, Illinois, he was a son of the Late Mr. & Mrs. William Brown. He married Elva M. Folkerts in November of 1946 and she passed away on April 13, 2017. He worked in the Maintenance Department at the Illinois Power Plant in Wood River, Illinois for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Medic with the 75th Infantry Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Staunton and was a past member of the Staunton Lions Club.
He is survived by 1 son, Tom (Carol) Brown of Shelbyville, IL; 3 grandchildren, Mark (Carrie) Brown, Justin Boni, and Patrick (Renee) Boni; 4 great grandchildren, Ross & Madison Brown, and Ryken & McKinna Boni; 1 sister, Lorraine Highlander of Marion, IL. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Kim Boni.
Friends may call from 10 AM to 12 noon on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton with Rev. Gail Joyner officiating. Burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton. The Staunton Military Honor Guard will conduct graveside military rites. Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warriors.
