Geraldine M. (nee Frahm) Schrader, 85, born September 24, 1931 to Earhart & Bertha (nee Hunche) Frahm in Ulysses, Nebraska went to the Lord on October 12, 2016.
Married Richard H. Schrader on November 6, 1954, he survives along with children Patricia (James) Buse, Donald (Diane) Schrader, Merri Bogard, & Sherri (Richard “Rick”) Plan, brother Melvin (Joan) Frahm, 11 grandchildren, & 16 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Wayne (Joan) Frahm, Maurice Frahm, Donald (Karol) Frahm, & Wilbur (Kathryn) Frahm & a great grandchild Ean Kruta.
Geraldine served her community well as a registered nurse. She worked at the Community Memorial Hospital, worked as an RN for 2 local doctors, was head of nurses at the Staunton Nursing Home (before it was known as Heritage Health Care), was part of the first EMT crew for the Staunton Area Ambulance Service, & retired as School Nurse from Staunton Unit Schools.
Geraldine was very active with the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Explorer Scouts with the Piasa Indian Dancers. She received honors by the Boy Scouts of America with a statuette and silver beaver. She also was a leader for the Girl Scouts of America.
Geraldine was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton.
To help future doctors & nurses and to help discover a cure for Alzheimer’s, her body has been donated to science.
A memorial to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton. Friends may call from 2 to 3 PM with the service beginning at 3 PM – Pastor Kelly Mitteis will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
