Gene G. Bahn, 86, of Staunton, IL died Monday, March 13, 2017 at Community Memorial Hospital in Staunton, IL. Born December 28, 1930 in Staunton, IL he was a son of the Late Mr. & Mrs. Joseph & Gertrude (Vogelsang) Bahn. He married Marion R. Robertson on May 16, 1953 in Washington D.C. and she passed away on September 4, 2009. Gene was the Owner and Operator of Bahn’s Super Valu in Staunton for many years. He later worked as a stockbroker. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of both St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Staunton, IL and the Staunton Knights of Columbus #2197.

He is survived by 6 Daughters, Brenda Popovich of Staunton, IL; Susan (John) Caldieraro of Staunton, IL; Karen DeVries of Mt. Olive, IL; Vicki (Bob) Bassett of St. Louis, MO; Leslie (Stanley) Pirok of Staunton, IL; Tracy (Jim) Bianco of Staunton, IL; 2 Sons, Tom (Betsy) Bahn of Mercer Island, WA; and Steve Bahn of New Lenox, IL; 23 Grandchildren, Matt (Amy) Popovich, Kierstan (Alberto) Saenz, Michael (Amanda) Popovich, John (Kelli) Caldieraro, Andrew Caldieraro, Heidi Caldieraro (Louis Mitchelar, Wade (Suzy) DeVries, Casey (Brad) Stieren, Cole DeVries, Derek DeVries, Dane (Monica) Pohlman, Lydia (Brian) Figueroa, Hannah Bahn, Sarah Bahn, Sam Bahn, Erin (Ted) Frank, Lucas (Jennifer) Pirok, Kelsey (Jesiah) Watkins, Zac Bianco (Megan Graham), Tyler (Madi) Bianco, Meghan Bianco (Jordan Karl), Sophia Bahn, and Cooper Bahn; 29 Great Grandchildren; 2 Sisters, Dorothy Bertagnolli & Pat Goehe; 1 Brother, Joe Bahn. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Sister, Ruth Owen.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Staunton. Prayer Service will be private. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Staunton with Rev. George Radosevich officiating. Burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, IL. Memorials are suggested to either St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Staunton, Staunton Education Foundation, or to Community Memorial Hospital of Staunton.
