Dorothy M. (Pelko) Schuette

Dorothy M. Schuette of Glen Carbon, IL (formerly of Staunton, IL) died on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL at the age of 91.  Born on April 27, 1925, she was the daughter of Rudolph and Marie (Pelko) Stoiser.   She married Raymond A. Schuette on Oct. 8, 1944.   She is survived by her five children:  Alan (Rebecca) Schuette of Mattoon, IL; Beverly Best (Gus Piening) of Edwardsville, IL; Craig (Karen) Schuette of Palm Harbor, FL; Daryl (Christina) Schuette of Hanover Park, IL; and Ellise (Tom) DiMercurio of Scottsdale, AZ.

 

After raising a family of five children on their farm in Staunton, Il, Dorothy began her professional career as an account manager for Hano Business Forms in Mt. Olive, IL until her retirement. Dorothy and Ray enjoyed twenty years of retirement in Clearwater, FL before moving back to the St. Louis area.  Their most recent residence was at the Meridian Village Independent Living Facility in Glen Carbon, IL.  Raymond preceded her in death in 2014.  Dorothy was an active member of the Meridian Village community and enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle with her friends, as well as participating in several worship groups and being a member of the Sunday Coloring Club. For the past five years, Dorothy was attended by her faithful caregiver and dearest friend, Elena Durbin, of Alton, IL.

 

 

Dorothy is survived by two sisters, Betty (Tom) Karnosky of Saginaw, Michigan, and Jackie Ottino McRoberts of Sun Valley, Idaho.  Her grandchildren (9) and great grandchildren (8) include: Jeff (Sonya) Schuette, Sam and Olivia of Charleston, IL; Kim (Jason) Dorrey, Lauren and Kyle of Charleston, IL; Kory (Tammy) Best, Maddie and Logan of O’Fallon, IL; Lindsey Best Wulfing, Chase and Grant of Edwardsville, IL; Craig (Summer) Schuette, Jr. of  Lancaster,CA; Eric Schuette of Zion, IL; Christopher Schuette of Atlanta, GA; Tyler Hebenstreit of Portland, OR and Trevor Hebenstreit of St. Louis, MO.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Meridian Village Chapel in Glen Carbon, Illinois.
